Atletico Madrid await Barcelona test, as Antoine Griezmann returns to Wanda Metropolitano

Atletico Madrid have the inconsistent this season, and their hope of winning the La Liga title could be over if they lose at home to Barcelona on Sunday.
Barca are three points ahead of Atletico in La Liga, playing one game less. Barcelona has an outstanding match against Real Madrid, after their match in October was moved to December 18.
A defeat for Atletico Madrid this weekend would give their opponents a six-point advantage and with the possibility of either Barcelona or Real Madrid extending that to nine after the El Clasico.
That would be a huge mountain to climb, particularly given Diego Simeone’s side have to play on the road against the top two in the second half of the season.
Atletico failed to convert from 15 shots in their 1-0 defeat to Juventus on Tuesday, which is their second-highest in any Champions League away match for 16 seasons, according to Opta.
“We are experts in patience and hard work,” said Simeone after the match. “At some point, we will have a great match and score lots of goals.
Atletico Madrid have lost once in 14 games, the best record in the top division, but they have recorded seven draws, the joint most with Osasuna.
Their 16 goals scored is the same Alaves in 13th place and worse than Sevilla, Real Sociedad, and several other mid-table teams as well as Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Alvaro Morata has scored six times in the last eight games for the club, but there is much pressure on him to take the few chances that come his way.
Meanwhile, Injured Diego Costa has long lost the art of goalscoring and is expected out for at least another two months.
Atletico were with high hope when they signed Joao Felix for a record 126 million euros last summer, with the hope he would unlock some much-needed attacking force.
The 20-year-old just returned after being out with an ankle problem.
Felix was given the enormous task of filling the void left by Antoine Griezmann, who will return to Wanda Metropolitano for the first time since his transfer to Barca last transfer window.
Griezmann will likely receive a cold reception at Atletico, where, by the end, five excellent seasons were overshadowed by his desperation to leave.
